ABZWorks employer event to promote inclusive recruitment opportunities

18 November 2025

Aberdeen City Council’s Employability and Skills service, ABZWorks, in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, is inviting employers to a special session exploring the support available to help businesses recruit inclusively.

Sections of our society, particularly disabled people and those with health conditions, remain under-represented in the workforce.

It makes good business sense

Inclusive recruitment isn’t just the right thing to do, it makes business sense. By tapping into the skills and talents of disabled people and those with health conditions, employers can build stronger teams and create workplaces where everyone thrives. This event is about showing businesses the practical support available to make that happen.

Research shows that recruiting from these groups can bring significant benefits to business, including:

  • Stronger, more supportive teams
  • Reduced staff turnover
  • A positive reputation that attracts talent

This free-to-attend event will take place on Wednesday 19 November, from 10am until 12pm, at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill, AB10 1FQ.

Speakers

Enjoy a light refreshment and hear from a range of speakers, including:

  • NHS Grampian Healthy Working Lives team
  • We Too!, a local charity and Disability Confident Leader championing diversity

Business owners, recruiters, team leaders and Human Resources professionals are invited to register to attend the event: https://bit.ly/4mWVDmY

This event is funded through No One Left Behind, a Scottish Government initiative.
