We’re Recruiting Employability Keyworkers

Good employment is recognised as the most effective route out of poverty. The award-winning ABZWorks team is focused on helping Aberdeen residents into good, meaningful, and fair work.

If you want to make a difference to the lives of city residents aged 16-and-up, this could be the job for you.

Our keyworkers are based in Marischal College, but work across the city, delivering first-class employability support to help people to overcome their challenges and achieve their aspirations through a wide range of activity.  In addition to that one-to-one wraparound support, which includes connecting people with other services and support they need, we have thousands of training places with local training providers, all designed to help people move towards employment, education, volunteering, or formal training.

The team supports parents, young people, resettled people, disabled people, folk with long-term health conditions, over 50s, people who have been made redundant or are at risk of redundancy, people in recovery from substance use, individuals with criminal convictions, people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness – the list goes on.

There’s no one size fits all approach, at ABZWorks we deliver what individuals need.

Employability keyworkers provide essential and invaluable support to help Aberdeen residents progress into work, training, volunteering or education through a range of person-centred activities. We’re looking for people-focused employability professionals to join Aberdeen City Council’s Employability and Skills Service, ABZWorks, to help our residents out of poverty and our city’s economy flourish.

Former keyworker Louis, who has recently just been promoted to a project officer post in the team said: “Being a keyworker is so worthwhile. We’ve had so many success stories and seen people achieve things they never thought they would. They’ve gone from living in poverty to having a good income, being able to afford the things they want, and having pride in themselves and their achievements.”

Kevin, another keyworker in the team, said: “I love my job and I am so proud to be part of ABZWorks. It’s the best job I’ve ever had and I’m working with a brilliant team who all help each other and want the best for the people they’re supporting.”
