When unemployed mum-of-three Angelika Pytlak saw an ABZWorks advertisement on an Aberdeen bus, she knew that the opportunity she had been searching for had arrived.
ABZWorks keyworker Katie worked alongside Angelika to develop an action plan of activities to support her into work. First up was an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course at Pitman Training, followed by an Early Learning and Childcare course with Barnardos.
Angelika said: “I worked with Katie, who was always helpful. Katie suggested that I take a childcare course because I wanted to work with people.
“The course was very interesting, and I gained a lot of knowledge and skills. After completing the course, Katie helped me create my CV. She has extensive knowledge in this field; without her, my CV would never have looked so accurate and clear.
“I have now successfully passed the Aberdeen City Council recruitment process for the position of Casual Early Learning & Childcare Support Worker, and I can’t wait to start my new job!”
Along her path to employment, Angelika gained a number of certificates, including food hygiene, as well as building job seeking and interview skills, which set her up for work.
“I am very excited and grateful to ABZWorks, and especially Katie, who has always been there for me with help and knowledge, all with a smile on her face,” Angelika said.
