Training opportunities available across Aberdeen

7 February 2024

ABZWorks has something for everyone in Aberdeen who’s looking for help to get into work, from computing for absolute beginners, to industry skills and even in-work support to help you settle in and keep your job.

We’re working with partners across the city to make sure you can get the help you want and need, and move on to the next stage when you’re ready.

Whether you’re a school leaver or a bit further on in life, whether you’ve never worked or have been made redundant, if you took a break to raise family, or you’re just starting out, ABZWorks has something for you.

Our team of employability keyworkers and partners will support you to as you learn, train, and work.

We have opportunities for everyone, as well as specific opportunities for parents, disabled people, young people, over-50s, care-experienced young people, people with convictions, people with long-term health issues (including Long Covid), people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and parents with dependent children who are experiencing in-work poverty.

We take a holistic approach – which means you and your needs are at the centre of everything we do!

What’s available?

One-to-one support from a keyworker, who will help you create an action plan and help you access additional support and advice, including about benefits and your entitlement. Your keyworker can also connect you with training opportunities.

The include confidence building, CV, job-seeking and interview skills sessions, team building activities, beginners through to advanced computer skills, employability for the over-50s, help for people with convictions to get employment, and help for people with convictions to sustain employment.

We also offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), paid work experience in the health and social care sector, as well as paid work experience for parents in early years (nursery) settings, and in the third sector, and an exciting addition as we move towards renewable energy – training to get you into ‘green’ jobs!

We also offer seed funding to help you overcome the financial barriers to setting up your own business.

Some of the opportunities available are shown below, but there is much more on offer.  For more information call us on 01224 346100 or email abzworks@aberdeencity.gov.uk
