Tracey Johnston will be leading our Enterprising Communities Project. Here’s some information from Tracey about herself and this exciting new project:
I am delighted to be the lead creative practitioner for the new Enterprising Communities Pilot in conjunction with ABZWorks and Creative Learning. I will have the wonderful opportunity of guiding a group of budding entrepreneurs through their own creative journeys of product development.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of how to create a great product and bring it to market and I can’t wait to get started!
Over a six-week period we will explore various themes including researching what makes a great product, sustainability, packaging, and marketing, to kick start their creative small business journey. Funding is available from ABZWorks to help people set up their own businesses.
I am a painter, printmaker and illustrator living and working in Aberdeen. My paintings and prints explore intimate interiors, the still life and places of safety and sanctuary and can be found in private and public art collections throughout the UK and abroad.
I also love to teach, and my fine art and craft workshops have elements of re-using and recycling at their heart.
Also trading as Claremont Studio, I produce greetings cards, illustrated decorations and scented goods. I’ve been making scented candles since 2014, born out of a love and appreciation of the transformative power of scent. Inspired by the natural Scottish landscape, each scent memory has a story to tell and transports us to another place and time.
Over the past ten years I have created a scent library to enrich and elevate simple experiences at home to illuminate the everyday and my products are stocked in independent stores throughout Scotland.

Enterprising Communities is open to city residents of working age from 16+ who are not in education, training, or employment. It will be held at Rosemount Community Centre on Mondays, starting on 20 February. The sessions will run from 10am to 3pm.
